Top 5 foot care tips for winter

Updated: Nov 18, 2023

As we head into the festive season, and the winter chill sets in, our feet often

bear the brunt of the harsh weather conditions.

Treat your feet to the gift of self-care this Christmas with our top five foot-care

tips to keep your feet feeling merry and bright during the colder months.

1. Stay hydrated

Cold weather can be particularly drying on the skin, and our feet are no

exception! Ensure you keep your skin hydrated by moisturising your feet daily;

you can also look for creams containing ingredients like shea butter or coconut

oil for an extra nourishing boost.

Applying moisturiser before bed and wearing socks overnight can help lock in

moisture, leaving your feet soft and supple.

2. Choose the right footwear

There’s no doubt that winter boots are essential for keeping your feet warm

during the colder months, but choosing the right pair is crucial to the overall

health of your feet.

Opting for boots that are waterproof and insulated will protect your feet from

harsh conditions, including snow!

Your boots should also provide proper arch support to avoid discomfort and

potential foot problems.

3. Keep your feet dry

Wet and damp conditions can lead to various foot issues, including fungal

infections. After being outdoors, make sure to dry your feet thoroughly,

especially the spaces between your toes. Consider using moisture-wicking socks

to keep your feet dry throughout the day.

4. Trim those toenails

Proper toenail care is essential year-round, but it becomes even more critical in

the winter. Trim your toenails straight across to prevent ingrown nails, which can

be exacerbated by snug winter footwear. Keeping your toenails at a moderate

length reduces the risk of discomfort and potential infections.

5. Stay warm and cosy

It's tempting to crank up the heat during winter, but excessively warm indoor

temperatures can lead to dry skin.

Ensure your feet stay warm without overheating by wearing cosy, breathable

socks. Wool or thermal socks are excellent choices for maintaining warmth

without sacrificing breathability.

By following these top five foot care tips, you can confidently stride through the

winter season with happy, healthy feet.

Remember, a little extra care goes a long way in keeping your feet comfortable

and ready for whatever winter throws your way.
